Hello , it’s Sunday, April 13– and I’m gonna get right into it: I’m in Montreal for a bachelor party – or as they call it in England “a stag do.”
But fortunately I have normal friends because we did cool stuff like curling at the world’s oldest sporting club.

THE BIG ONE
One big news story in 100 words or less
I’m going to make this one really quick without getting political. Donald Trump is doing something with tariffs that’s nothing short of market manipulation.
The best example came this week when he announced that smartphones and computers were exempt from the tariffs he’s imposing on China.
This meant big profits for anyone who knew a stock like $AAPL (Apple) would recover before the rest of the market.
The biggest winners? Anyone who took Trump’s “buy” post on Truth Social seriously (aka inside traders and Members of Congress).

FAST FIVE
Five news stories you missed
1.) Trump proposes “Saving TikTok” by rebranding it to “TikTok America”
KnowTechie’s take: Who doesn’t love a meaningless gesture?
2.) ChatGPT might be close to 1,000,000,000 users
KnowTechie’s take: I dunno if we can really trust OpenAI’s numbers but good for them.
3.) UK police developing AI tool that can “predict killers”
KnowTechie’s take: Sounds like Minority Report but with a focus on the “minority” part
4.) Meta asking Trump to intervene and stop FTC investigation he initiated in 2020
KnowTechie’s take: I dunno anymore, man lol.
5.) Did Trump’s team use Chat GPT to set new trade rules?
KnowTechie’s take: Quick answer: yes.
GEAR GIVEAWAY
BLUETTI Charger 1
I wrote about the BLUETTI Charger 1 a couple of weeks back, and people were SO interested in it that Kevin just HAD to do a giveaway.
Here’s a little bit about this essential road trip device that can actually charge your car while you drive
Features:
- Specially designed to recharge car alternators
- Prevents your car battery from draining
- Great for “off the grid” living or long trips
- $249 starting price
You have until May 5th to enter, so do NOT miss your chance.
Moron of the Week
Penguin vs. Helicopter
Penguins are famously flightless birds – as some (fortunately uninjured) helicopter operators found out recently in South Africa.
The low-altitude crash was apparently caused by an “unsecured penguin” that had been placed into a cardboard box. Fittingly, the incident occurred on the South African island of Bird Island.
I think there’s a lot to learn here, but first of all, I’d say you should never put a penguin in a cardboard box and then try to fly off in a helicopter. That’ll make the penguin mad and probably make your helicopter crash.
DEALS
TOOLS
