Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk are really going to fight, aren't they?

We were promised flying cars in 2023, but this will do just fine

Good morning!

Welcome to another edition of the KnowTechie Weekly download – your weekly dose of tech news that you likely ignored throughout all that doomscrolling.

We get it; life's too short to keep up with every single update from the ever-evolving world of technology. That's why we're here. To spoon-feed you all those juicy tidbits you missed while living your best digital life.

💡 Remember, folks: staying ignorant might be easier, but being informed makes you less likely to fall for those "You've won a million dollars!" scams...and wouldn't that be nice?

🛫 Programming note: While I usually send these over the weekend, well, life got in the way, and I didn’t have the time to clean what I had up before publishing, so instead of sending something I would regret later, I figured it could wait until this morning.

Quick update from management: Oh, right, that’s me. I will be on vacation for the next week and will hopefully have someone run the newsletter next week, but if not: hey, we all need a break every once in a while. If worse comes to worse, I’ll see you next week.

Alright, enough with the pleasantries. Let's dive headfirst into the tech news soup and fish out some of the chunkiest stories that you absolutely need to know about.

🥊 Billionaire Brawl:
In what could be described as an absurdly extravagant display of billionaire bravado, tech tycoons Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have publicly agreed to duke it out in a cage fight. This spectacle was sparked by Musk's Twitter challenge, which Zuckerberg seemingly accepted without hesitation.

My Take: I personally have my money on Zuckerberg beating the dog crap out of Musk, but hey, it’s anyone’s fight. I just want to see it go down.

Dropbox is throwing its name into the ‘AI Tools we never asked for’ hat. One tool helps summarize documents because who has time for reading anymore? The other tool called Dash wants to be "Google for your personal stuff." Because why rely on Google when you can search through your own digital mess?

Microsoft seems to be feeling the sting of defeat as they admit Xbox "lost the console wars." With only a measly 16% share of console sales in 2021, they're trailing behind Nintendo and PlayStation. Looks like Xbox needs to level up their game if they want a fighting chance.

💡Quick Tech Tip

Use Sidecar to Use Your iPad as a Secondary Display

If you own both a Mac and an iPad, you can use the Sidecar feature to extend your workspace. This allows your iPad to act as a secondary display for your Mac. It's like having two screens in one, making multitasking even easier!

To activate Sidecar, click on the AirPlay icon in the menu bar on your Mac (it looks like a rectangle with a triangle at the bottom). Then select "Connect To," followed by your iPad's name.

Now you have double the screen space! You can drag windows from your Mac screen over to your iPad or vice versa. Plus, if you have an Apple Pencil, you can use it on the iPad when it’s serving as a second display – perfect for design work or note-taking.
