🏥 Hospitals and clinics in various states are recovering from a cyberattack that disrupted computer systems, forcing closures and diverting patients. The extent of the attack is being investigated, and recovery could take weeks.

Why it matters: If a group of dickwads can do this now, what’s stopping others from doing it again? My identity was stolen two months ago because someone hacked my healthcare provider.

💻 Meta’s Twitter clone, Threads, is expected to introduce search and web functionality in the coming weeks, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Despite rapid sign-ups, many users did not stick around, prompting Meta to accelerate the development of additional features.

Why it matters: Given the fact that Threads has lost more than 80% of its daily active users since its launch, they’ll do anything to keep their heads above water. This is a good start.

📅 Rumor has it that Apple is gearing up its annual Apple event for September 13. Apple is reportedly telling its employees to avoid taking that day off. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s pretty damn close.

Why it matters: We will get our first look at Apple’s new iPhone 15 and see if the rumors about a price increase are true. This will reportedly be the first iPhone to replace the lightning cable with USB-C.
